Selecting the Design Team

At The Line Up, our experienced staff of designers and pattern makers will work with you in developing the design.

You are responsible for selecting your design team.

The first and most important rule, when it comes to design decisions, is to limit the size of your design team. For ease of planning, the ideal number is one to three people. Never include more than three individuals. As the number of individuals involved increases, group consensus is difficult to achieve

Secondly, when you start the design process, identify the person responsible for making the final decision. This will allow you to reduce the stress involved with indecision and disagreements.

How does one select the design team?

  • Coaches are generally the most influential and important individuals, especially when they establish the vision and ‘hold’ the team together. Keep this person involved at some level.
  • Although the coach is generally the most important, they often have limited time. If this is the case, we recommend there be a key person designated to organize and facilitate the design process. This could be an Assistant Coach, Costume Coordinator or Parent Leader.
  • Captains are sometimes chosen to help. Allowing them to influence or participate in the decision-making process is a great experience. Beware; this responsibility can be a challenge when they feel they must please the entire team.
